In economic downturn, Georgia Perimeter's budget cut by 3.4 million

Due to the recent downturn in the economy, many institutions across Georgia have experienced a reduction in funding from the state government. This, of course, has directly affected the overall operating budget of GPC. State funding for educational institutions in Georgia (such as GPC) is distributed through the Board of Regents, who calculate the amount using a formula that considers student enrollment hours as well as other factors.

GPC Earth Club hosts STUMP

The GPC Earth Club hosted STUMP, an event aimed at educating students about recycling efforts at the college, on Oct. 14 from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in front of the Clarkston campus Student Center. The goal of the Earth Club is to make GPC a more environmentally-friendly school, and is in charge of collecting the recyclable cans and plastics on the Clarkston campus.

Partnerships in action Walk

On Oct. 26, the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) hosted their 13th annual Partnership Walk in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park. Aga Khan Foundation is a non-profit, non-denominational international development agency. Centennial Olympic Park is known for bringing together people from all around the world and proved its purpose once more, drawing hundreds of volunteers ready to walk and participate in yet another year of raising funds for poverty-stricken areas in and around Asia and Africa.
